Dulley chose a vented ridge for even more energy efficiency.
Classic Metal Roofing Systems of Kentuckiana is very proud to have recently completed the installation of a Rustic Shingle roof for James Dulley, a well-known syndicated columnist who writes about energy-efficient home improvements. For years we have followed Dulley’s articles in newspapers nationwide and at his website, www.dulley.com.
When James told us he was ready to replace his roof, we met and went over the various options. He chose the Rustic Shingle in Buckskin, which is our most energy-efficient color short of white. Buckskin has a tested reflectivity value of 44%, well above the minimum of 25%.
We were able to install the Rustic Shingle roof right over the existing asphalt shingle roof, saving the cost, mess, and landfill waste of a tear-off.
During the installation, we had a very warm spring day in the mid-’80s and James said he definitely noticed a difference, that the upstairs was cooler because of the new aluminum roof reflecting away the heat of the sun.
